Caputo shares his travel to his friend's LaFrontera Ranch as they inspects the ranch's fences and gates for breaks made by migrants and narcotraficantes, detailing the Arizona-Mexico border. The LaFrontera lies in the San Rafael Valley, a symphonic landscape of rolling grasslands speckled with oak and juniper and bounded by towering mountains. "We've often been hard to help," he continued. "We're a correctional facility and we have fences and guards and walls and gates and mortar and background checks and all these things.
"In my experience [additional volunteering] has made a world of difference in a correctional setting," he said. "It shows that there are people...

Our biggest challenge right now is our location and our funding," says [Connie Gunther], noting that a new dog park would cost about $10,000, including $5500 for fences and gates alone. "Right now," she adds, "we don't have either.

HIGHLAND - There's a conflict behind the razor wire, chainlink fences and towering iron gates of Patton State Hospital. Some say it's a long-standing power struggle between the state and union corrections officers.
Others say it's a byproduct of the troubled financial times.
