LINCOLN UNIVERSITY academic John Hickford was one of the happiest people at the 2005 National Agricultural Fieldays.
Dr Hickford, senior lecturer in animal breeding and genetics at Lincoln, was chuffed that rural insurance and finance company FMG (Farmers' Mutual Group) was celebrating its 100th anniversary by announcing two $12,000 agricultural scholarships for a student at both Lin coln and Massey Universities next year.

Run by the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand, the award recognises the achievement of excellence by farmers, while commemorating the late A. C. Cameron, who was instrumental in the formation of Young Farmers Clubs in New Zealand. Mr Cameron was also an executive member of the Royal Agricultural Society and general manager of Farmers Mutual Group (FMG).
