NEW HAVEN -- A city man faces weapons and assault charges after he allegedly pulled out a sawed-off rifle from his pants and struggled with two police officers. According to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery, shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 100 block of Blake Street on a report of a gunshot in a wooded area.
Officers Ekrem Halim and Christopher Senior attempted to stop a male walking away from the area, when he pulled a sawed-off rifle from his pants and fled. The officers arrested him after a foot pursuit and struggle.

OLD TOWN Police went to a Lincoln Street apartment recently after an emergency 911 hangup call and found a woman outside with red marks on her neck who said a man inside had choked her, Old Town police Capt. Kyle Smart said Monday.
The 19-year-old University of Maine student, who is from Freeport, saw the police car arrive around 11:45 p.m. Oct. 1 and told Officer Ryan Fitch, Thank God youre here. He tried to kill me, Smart said, reading from the police report.

An urgent care doctor on contract at Loma Linda University Medical Center, who faces charges of sexually assaulting two female patients, will be allowed to continue seeing patients while his case progresses through the courts.
Ramon Fawzi Fakhoury appeared Monday before Judge Kenneth Barr in San Bernardino Superior Court, where the issue of whether the physician can continue to see patients was addressed.

A tow truck driver has been charged with aggravated assault after police said he dragged a man 85 feet down a driveway while repossessing a car in Marshall County Thursday.
James Charles Smith, 31, of Horn Lake was arrested on the felony assault charges, and had his bond set at $200,000. He remained in the Marshall County jail Friday.
