BLOOMINGTON -- McLean County officials, unhappy with bookkeeping in the county recorder's office, are considering revoking that office's ability to extend credit to customers. Matt Sorensen, chairman of the county's finance committee, said the county board granted the right to extend credit, which isn't guaranteed to the office by state law, eight years ago.
In today's highly competitive, global economy, companies cannot afford to pass up any viable business opportunity. Most commercial transactions involve the extension of credit from the seller to the buyer. However, making decisions to extend credit to business customers involves taking a risk. Fortunately, credit professionals can rely on credit reports provided by the National Association of Credit Management (NACM) to provide them with the financial information they need in order accurately determine credit risk. The NACM customer databases are updated on a timely basis, some as often as once a day. This process ensures that the information contained in an NACM credit report is as current as possible.
BLOOMINGTON -- McLean County Recorder Ruth Weber, who may lose her ability to extend credit to certain customers, is not alone in allowing the practice. Other Central Illinois recorders provide the service, although the duration of credit and eligible customers vary.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (``CFTC'') and the Securities and Exchange Commission (``SEC,'' together with the CFTC, the ``Commissions'') are jointly issuing proposed rules and guidelines to implement new statutory provisions enacted by Title X of the Dodd- Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
