BOSTON - When Joe Girardi took the ball out of Bartolo Colon's hand in the fifth inning Friday night, he had visions of perfection in his head - zeros across the board as the Yankees' bullpen snuffed out the American League's No. 1 offense.
Who knew Girardi would be so prescient? The Bombers snuck by the Red Sox, 3-2 precisely because the manager made all the right moves, starting with his decision to summon Boone Logan to replace Colon to quell a two-out, bases-loaded rally. Not only did Logan strike out Adrian Gonzalez on three pitches, he kicked off a string of 4 1/3 scoreless innings.

IT is spring! I am glad to see spring arrive. For most businesses, the relatively mild winter meant lower fuel costs and fewer weather-related interruptions. UCLA (and it must be right because they put it on their helmet logo like that and a four-year university should know better) had the guns, and the coaches to make a game of it. They just .

Not exactly. From the Pacers' standpoint, the execution was quite good. O'Neal wound up with 24 points despite the Celtics' efforts to limit his impact on the game by cutting down his touches. "We've been doing a better job with decision making. Especially at playoff time, it's got to be right," Pacers coach Rick Carlisle says. "Most of the game we did what we wanted.

In many ways, managing a property for a real estate fund is just like managing property for any other owner. The real estate fund manager needs to have a clear understanding of the fund's goals and objectives for the property and its ability to provide cash for the property's operations, planned renovations or correction of deferred maintenance. Allocating funding for tenant improvement costs or leasing commission expenses is essential as is having an exit strategy for the property. The fund manager serves as the general partner or managing member of the fund and makes all investment decisions on its behalf. Understanding how real estate funds are structured and how they seek to execute their investment strategies for their investors can help the real estate manager provide excellent se...
