• Monumental Facelift

The McLean County Museum of History is getting a facelift on its interior as well as the outside of the building. Evergreene Painting Studios Inc., based in New York and Chicago, was contracted by Otto- Baum Co. Inc. to work on stabilizing the plaster walls by anchoring them with long pins. About 920 pins were used throughout the building. Visitors will not see much of a difference as they walk through the museum. The work was done to secure the panels. The process of covering the securing anchor holes requires knowledge of scagliola - faux marble - a craft perfected by Italian monks in the 1500s. Immigrants brought that knowledge with them.
