  • This article explores the ways in which the requirements of religious freedom in the the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (ECHR) permit certain types of relationships between Church and State but also restricts the scope of permissible relations. It provides a discussion of the permissible boundaries of church-state relations within the ECHR. It considers the key provisions in the ECHR that potentially impact church-state relations.
