Calgon Carbon Corp. of Robinson said Monday the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority of Boston has selected it to provide an ultraviolet disinfection system for a water treatment plant in Marlboro, Mass. The contract is valued at $2.3 million, but it has an escalator clause because the equipment will not be purchased from Calgon Carbon for a few years, said Rhea Convery, a water authority spokeswoman.

• Platteville; School Board Oks Transportation Pact

The Platteville School Board recently approved a five-year contract renewal with Faherty Inc. to provide bus transportation service. The increase in cost from the just-completed school year to the 2006-07 school year will be almost 7 percent, or a little more than $27,000. Fuel costs for Faherty increased 21 percent during the previous year. There is no escalator clause in the agreement. Although the contract is for five years, the rates are negotiated on an annual basis.
