Question: Thank you for your "Chemical-Free Lawn" article in the Sept. 17 Tribune-Review. In the beginning of July, I had my front lawn professionally landscaped. It was suggested to me to pay extra to have a straw blanket on top of the hydroseeding to aid in moisture control and also help with keeping the grass seed a more constant temperature. I was told that it was biodegradable. However, I now have what appears to be a plastic mesh covering my lawn. As the lawn is mowed, some of it is pulling up and looks terrible. Also, where the straw blanket was doubled at the edges, the grass is not growing. Is there anything I can do now to remove this mesh completely from my lawn other than starting all over?
