Cheshire boys' lacrosse defenseman Torrey Martone set himself apart from other players in the New Haven area this season and United States Lacrosse rewarded that effort by selecting him one of 15 Connecticut U.S. Lacrosse All-Americans. Wilton followed with three selections: attackman Michael Francia, defenseman Pat Holland and goalie Sam Somers.

After Kevin Cooper slipped on the floor of a Chrysler plant, he filed a worker's compensation claim and then a civil lawsuit.
Filing concurrent suits is becoming more common, and an appellate ruling in Cooper's case is an example that both claims in a workers' compensation case can stay open at once.

COLUMBIA - The U.S. Justice Department is challenging the way South Carolina conducts primaries, and that could change the long- used calendar for primary runoffs that now come two weeks after the first round of voting.
A spokesman for the Justice Department said Tuesday that the agency is enforcing laws intended to make sure people living overseas or serving in the military abroad have the same opportunity to vote as those living in the United States. Several states, including South Carolina, were asked several months ago to show how they would make sure ballots were sent and received in time to be counted, Justice Department spokesman Eric Holland said.
