A group of religious leaders is calling on policymakers to keep Maine a welcoming place for immigrants. Bishop Richard Malone of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland; Rabbi Carolyn Braun of Temple Beth El in Portland; Eric Smith, associate director of the Maine Council of Churches; and leaders of the Episcopal Church and Unitarian Universalist community spoke out Wednesday in response to more than 30 legislative and budget proposals that could affect immigrants and refugees.

West Virginia started junior Eric Jobe at right guard and sophomore Jeff Braun at right tackle. Earlier this week, WVU coach Bill Stewart said he was not sure whether those two or Cole Bowers would start the game on the right side. They all wear shirts or caps (or both) that advertise the team they represent, the team that may one day employ one of these Mountaineers theyre sent to town to study. Rarely do they ever have a notebook tucked into their pocket or a pen fitted behind an ear. MORGANTOWN - It was barely two weeks before Saturday's opening game against Liberty that West Virginia began experimenting with its offensive line. A group that had been working together virtually unchanged since the middle of spring drills was suddenly in flux. Jeff Braun was out as the starting right guard. Eric Jobe was moving from center to right guard. Joey Madsen, a redshirt freshman who has never stepped on the field, was suddenly the No. 1 center.
With Eric Stamets and Trentt Copeland again working their infield magic for the University of Evansville, the "Battle of the Braun" was in safe hands Tuesday night. The Aces scored all three runs in the bottom of the first and used three double plays to keep the University of Southern Indiana bats in check during a 3-0 victory in front of a crowd of 505 at Braun Stadium.
