Momentum in NRC activity related to new plant initiatives, spurred by the Energy Policy Act of 2005 incentives, continues. Becoming an attorney is something Lane Powell's Parna Mehrbani wanted to do from a young age. She originally wanted to pursue a doctorate in English literature at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, but after working at the Environmental Law and Policy Center of the Midwest as an intern, she decided to apply to Lewis and Clark Law School.

The Environmental Law and Policy Center's new study of Wisconsin's solar and wind energy supply chain has found that 171 Wisconsin companies are part of the wind energy supply chain, and 135 companies in the state are part of the solar energy supply chain.
The solar and wind industries provide more than 12,000 jobs in Wisconsin, according to a news release from the ELPC. The job growth has been supported by utility incentives and state policies like Wisconsin's Renewable Portfolio Standard and Focus on Energy program, according to the release.

A federal judge has ruled in favor of the U.S. Forest Service's plan to log 8,800 acres of northern hardwoods in the Chequamegon- Nicolet National Forest near Clam Lake.
The plan is one of four major logging proposals by the Forest Service that have been challenged by Habitat Education Center of Madison and the Environmental Law and Policy Center of Chicago.
