The United Nations Environment Programme, Yale University, and a host of leading science and technology publishers have created a way to bridge the scientific gap between the developing world with Online Access to Research in the Environment, a new digital Internet Library. Through this program, more than 100 developing nations will be able to access one of the world's biggest collections of scholarly environmental literature at little or no cost. The annual subscriptions to the journals in this collection have the estimated value of nearly $1 million.

Africa is the least responsible for climate change but will be hit the hardest," said Nick Nuttall, spokesperson for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
"If Africa's weather gets any more fickle, then they are in very deep trouble," said Steve Sawyer of Greenpeace International. Sawyer is one of 6,000 people in Nairobi attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference.
"This is the first major climate change conference in Africa. There is strong interest in how to help 'climate-proof' African infrastructure," he said.
