Years from now, when they look back on their days at Center Hill Middle/High School, the English/drama teacher and theater director wants to have had the same impact on her students as her teachers had on her.

As executrix, she served as consultant to stage, film and printed productions of [Lorraine Hansberry]'s work in the United States and abroad. She was one of the primary people responsible for the revival of Hansberry's "A Raisin in the Sun" to Broadway in 2004, which had sold-out runs for 12 weeks. Its cast, including Sean Combs and Phylicia Rashad, made it one of the most financially successful plays for the season while winning two Tony awards from its four nominations. Gresham believed in continuing the legacy of Hansberry's work through her commitment to social justice issues.

Anthony Minghella, the Oscar-winning director who helped reinvigorate British cinema, died yesterday at London's Charing Cross Hospital after apparently routine surgery led to a brain hemorrhage. He was just 54.
Mr. Minghella, whose film "The English Patient" won nine Academy Awards, had a growth on his neck removed last week, his publicist, Jonathan Rutter, told Associated Press, adding that "the operation seemed to have gone well.

He lives at lives at Hillcrest Retirement Community in La Verne and was a resident of Claremont for more than 30 years. He was a teacher in the Azusa Unified School District for 37 years from fourth grade to high school in English, speech and drama.
