HUMIDITY and dampness create problems in heating a home, according to the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority. A damp house is unhealthy to live in and costs more to heat, the EECA says, and a dry, well-aired home is easier to heat. A humid house is hard to heat because the heat energy is absorbed by the moisture before the temperature can rise.

Funding to help local governments increase energy efficiency and reduce harmful emissions is a breath of fresh air for local leaders in the Mid-South.
