State and business leaders cut the ribbon on the new Louisiana Business Emergency Operations Center in Baton Rouge. The facility, thought to be the first of its kind in the nation, will serve as a base for business and volunteer organizations taking part in disaster response efforts and other emergencies.
A collaborative effort between state government and the business and academic communities, the LA BEOC will work with businesses to improve their disaster preparedness, improve communication with business and industry before, during and after disaster events and develop accurate economic impact estimates to support decision making and requests for business assistance.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will submit the information collection abstracted below to the Office of Management and Budget for review and clearance in accordance with the requirements of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995. The submission will describe the nature of the information collection, the categories of respondents, the estimated burden (i.e., the time, effort and resources used by respondents to respond) and cost, and the actual data collection instruments FEMA will use.

REDLANDS Severe weather has killed at least three people in the state and prompted city officials Wednesday to activate the Emergency Operations Center housed in Fire Station 264. Department heads and support staff from the Police, Fire, and Public Works departments gathered to handle weather-related problems and track a second storm that threatened to come in from Riverside.

Los Angeles city officials opened a new $107 million state-of- the-art Emergency Operations Center on Thursday, fulfilling part of the promise of a 2002 bond measure.
The two-story, 84,000-square-foot facility, just east of City Hall, was funded through Proposition Q, a $600 million bond measure that provided funds for 14 new police and fire facilities that will culminate in October with a new police headquarters.

With the annual wildfire season and earthquake preparedness in mind, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors has approved a much-needed expansion of the county's Emergency Operations Center.
