Staff Writer Two Lancaster County attorneys have been charged with embezzling money from two clients' bankruptcy estate, according to a federal indictment.
RANCHO CUCAMONGA - A local attorney pleaded no contest this week to criminal charges alleging she embezzled more than $40,000 from a client in a divorce case. DINWIDDIE - A Circuit Court judge found the county's former chief animal control officer not guilty of one felony embezzlement charge before dismissing the charge Thursday. The embezzlement charge against Deborah L. Broughton stemmed from an October 2012 incident when Broughton sought medical treatment for a dog, which ultimately cost the county $284. Broughton pleaded not guilty during the trial, which was deliberated by a judge instead of a jury.
