EPA proposes to approve several revisions to the Pesticide Element of the California state implementation plan (SIP). Optimizing the match of supply and demand to get the right people in the right jobs hinges on the workforce planning component of talent management. To have talent on demand, one cannot underestimate the required executive commitment and involvement or what might be needed for them to disengage from the current state. Executives must own workforce segmentation and their "make or buy" talent decisions. Employers would further benefit from understanding how different programs, such as compensation, are shaping their capability portfolio. Last, employers cannot achieve meaningful dialogue if they are not strategic about their HRIS approach, including the development and/or purchase of their talent management applications.
