If you plan on ditching your old TV or computer, you'll be required to recycle it starting Saturday as a new state law takes effect.
The Electronic Waste Management Act focuses only on televisions and all personal or portable computers including monitors, but Bergen and Passaic counties will be offering recycling collection events for all electronics or "e-waste" in 2011. This includes everything from stereos and printers to cameras and telephones.

Beginning in January, West Virginians will find new restrictions on how they can dispose of their old televisions, computers and other electronic devices. Senate Bill 398, which was signed into law earlier this year, prohibits any covered electronic device which includes televisions, computers or any other device with a 4-inch or larger video display from being placed in a state landfill after Jan. 1, 2011. The bill was sponsored by Sen. Karen Facemyer, R- Jackson, who is also president of the Polymer Alliance Zone, the Davisville-based alliance of local polymer processors in Wood, Jackson and Mason counties. DALLAS, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- To encourage consumers to recycle electronic devices in an environmentally sound manner, LG Electronics and Waste Management Recycle America are asking Dallas- Fort Worth residents to take action and recycle their used devices at no charge in Lewisville on Saturday, Sept. 11.
