Tuesday (June 3) is Primary Election Day and voters will have a lot of tough choices. Independents will have to sit out this election. It is limited to Democrats and Republicans who registered by May 6. Democrats voted for a presidential candidate in a party caucus Feb. 5, but they will cast ballots for other elected posts, including county commission, clerk, treasurer, district attorney and district court judges.

Three of the six Los Angeles City Council members seeking re- election on Tuesday owe their chance to continue their political careers to a 2006 ballot measure that extended term limits for council members from two to three.
Councilmen Tom LaBonge, Tony Cardenas and Bernard Parks all stand to benefit from the measure that will allow them to continue to draw $178,792 a year salaries and represent districts that each contain more than 250,000 residents.

San Dimas and Claremont may both take new directions starting Tuesday - Election Day.
The biggest turnover could be on the Claremont City Council, where three seats will be filled.

LISBON -- Voters in District Two, Lisbon Falls, will be going to the polls on Tuesday for a special citizen-initiated recall election of veteran Town Council Chairman Michael Bowie, as permitted under the town charter.
The recall petition was submitted to the town by School Street resident Dorothy Fitzgerald, chairman of the Recall Committee.

LA HABRA HEIGHTS -- Four candidates are seeking two seats in Tuesday's city council election. Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
Incumbent Layne Baroldi isn't running. Incumbent Howard Vipperman and challengers Larry Black, Roy Francis, Phil Lough are running for two seats.

The Citizens Project and others are hosting two election forums Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tuesday's forum will include all seven mayoral candidates, and the forum on Wednesday will include many of the candidates running for City Council.

Tuesday's mail-only election will decide local school boards, school district funding measures, a statewide tax increase for education and a variety of other local measures.
