COMEDO-PUNDITS
How much do we mock our politicians? Much. Rough math reveals that late night comedians generate well over 100 jokes a week about leaders and lawmakers. Like this one: "Some good news for President Obama : In the last three months, his re-election campaign raised $86 million. The bad news: To be re-elected, he's going to need $14 trillion more." So said NBC 's "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno on a recent night.

In the waning days of his re-election campaign, County Executive Chris Collins found himself besieged with advice of all stripes and sorts.
Concentrate on altered absentee ballots in the Board of Elections," supporters implored.

The campaign for the special election in the 26th Congressional District ended Monday much as it began -- mired in squabbling over the future of Medicare.

Dick Morris widely is credited with helping Bill Clinton map out a middle course between Republican conservatism and traditional Democrat liberalism in Clinton's 1996 re-election campaign. Today he's a political analyst for the Fox News Channel, contributes to "Fox News Sunday" and is a columnist for The Hill, a newspaper devoted to congressional issues.
In addition to Clinton, Morris has advised congressional notables such as Jesse Helms, Trent Lott, Kay Bailey Hutchison along with former New York City Mayor Ed Koch. We spoke by phone Tuesday as Republicans and Democrats were posturing for the next round in the budget battle -- raising the debt ceiling.

Interstate 73 has overlaid itself on the road map of this fall's election campaign, with several Democrats lining up against its proposed route through Southeast Roanoke and Roanoke County.
Reasons cited for the route by transportation decision-makers don't make sense, the Roanoke Valley Democratic incumbents say.

SPRINGBORO -- Although unopposed in Tuesday's election, Springboro Mayor John Agenbroad amassed a campaign war chest of more than $63,000, at least 18 times as much as any other local candidate, most coming from outside Ohio.
I had to cut it off. I had $100,000 pledged or raised for this election," Agenbroad said, who is seeking his fourth four-year term.
