Although Erie County Executive Chris Collins officially declared his bid for re-election way back in March, you might say he launched his real campaign Monday, with sparkling budget numbers he said represent a "fiscal future that is stronger than ever.
Collins released statistics that all trend in a positive direction, including a midyear surplus of about $13 million. He said he expects the rosy budget figures to continue throughout the rest of the year and strongly hinted that they will form the foundation of his campaign against Democrat Mark C. The authors assembled leading mass communication scholars for this anthology, whose twelve chapters cover topics ranging from campaign finance reform, Web advertising and e-mail strategies, to blogging, and rumor campaigns. Based on their results, they found liberals tended to use bulletin boards, electronic mailing lists, and chat rooms more heavily, while conservatives were more active blog users, especially to criticize the liberal media elites and inaccuracies in campaign coverage.
