I came across a large sign declaring that the Natural Bridge was the eighth wonder of the world. There were steps below it that led to the river over which the bridge sits. From there, you can look up at the bridge and you're supposed to realise just how spectacular it really is. Well, this according to a woman I met inside a shop right next to the steps....

WEST BADEN SPRINGS, Ind. - Believe it!
It sounds like a banner sports headline or something announcer Harry Caray would have shouted.

WEST BADEN, Ind. - Hailed as "The Eighth Wonder of the World," the West Baden Springs Hotel was a marvel when it was built in 1902. And it remains such today, more than a century after it welcomed its first guests.
What marks the hotel as distinctive is its mammoth lobby - a domed space that's six stories high and 200 feet wide. Fashioned of steel and glass, it was the largest freestanding dome in the country until Houston's Astrodome opened in 1965. Abandoned for decades, the old building was restored and reopened as a luxury resort in 2007.
