For Narayanaswamy Balakrishnan, professor at the department of aerospace engineering and the Supercomputer Education Research Centre at the India Institute of Science, storing all the world's published information in a single repository is a realistic and achievable goal. Balakrishnan tackled the potential notion of documenting all human knowledge in digital form. Initiatives are now needed for human knowledge to continue unabated so people can enjoy the benefits of historical knowledge and its retrospective research for posterity. India is confronting many challenges, not the least of which is developing optical character recognition technologies to cover the 14 languages spoken in India.
