PEORIA, Ill., Sept. 1 /U.S. Newswire/ -- As part of a statewide effort to expand financial education, the Chicago-based Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law has scheduled a grant- writing seminar for central Illinois nonprofit organizations on Sept. 14. With major support from the Grand Victoria Foundation and the Illinois Department of Human Services, the Shriver Center provides such seminars and will administer nonprofit grants to support financial education programs for low-income adults. Nonprofit organizations must attend the seminar in order to apply for the grants.

The U.S. Department of Labor (the Department) announces the availability of up to $500 million in grant funds to be awarded under the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) grants program. DANVERS - While her gift of education for adults endures, the final grants from the Tempra Bevington Adult Education Trust will be awarded this year.
When she died at age 86 in 1996, she left about half of her $450,000 estate to create an adult education fund that has helped people in Danvers Township take courses in sewing, foreign languages and rescue skills. The program has helped several people complete college degrees.
