Following the lead of a few other independent education foundations in southern Maine, community leaders, business owners and parents in Windham have recently started a foundation to help students achieve their education dreams.
The Windham Education Foundation is barely a month old, but has come up with a plan to be the focus of scholarships and grants for anyone pursuing an education in Windham during the years to come. It's completely separate from the school system.

The education funds have been advertised so extensively, that parents who cannot afford to save for the college education of their children might be made to feel like they are delinquent. Throughout Bexar and surrounding counties, the BHFSA awards annual grants and scholarships to non-profit organizations that provide healthcare services and healthcare education to their communities. To date, they have awarded over 300 grants totaling $20,674,318.
BHFSA grants are limited to healthcare clinics, indigent care programs, assisted living facilities, mobile health and primary care facilities, substance abuse programs, behavioral health facilities, health education scholarships and other not-for-profit healthcare providers.

"Some people might want to consider going to school at a community college or junior college for a couple of years and later go to a four-year school. Increasing diversity in the US workforce is a continuing trend. That's good news for employers and jobseekers alike. A number of programs encourage the development of a diverse workforce. Some are general, such as scholarships and grants for minority students in higher education.
