For 5-year-old Jenna Shadrick's mother, her preschool graduation wasn't just a mark to the end of another school year. To Leslie Shadrick, the graduation signified growth and recognized the obstacles Jenna faced in reaching that point. The preschoolers, wearing handmade paper graduation caps, marched into their classroom at Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center to the traditional strains of "Pomp and Circumstance." Special education teacher Brandi Scheller presented the graduates their diplomas.
The 20 families who visited the $164,000 house that the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center will award to this year's raffle winner, were less than officials hoped for, and spokeswoman Pam Kirk hopes the community will help the center reach its ticket sales goal this year. DAYTON -- Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley honored award winners at its 77th annual awards celebration at the Mandalay Banquet Center March 31. Weekend and weekday bass tournaments are ways of life on Thurmond Lake, but few benefit local charities like the annual event which last weekend raised more than $13,000 for Easter Seals. The $13,345.63 is believed to be the most ever raised. Previous Easter Seals tournaments netted $10,000 to $11,000.
Preparations for the inaugural Century 21 Easter Seals Charity Regatta are all set. The event will be held on the waters of Long Beach Harbor on May 14 with the fleet of Catalina 37 sailboats owned by the Long Beach Yacht Club Sailing Foundation. The foundation is associated with Long Beach Yacht Club, the site of all on-shore activities for the regatta. Fidelity National Title and Chicago Title have signed on as Supporting Sponsors and eight Century 21 companies have already pledged their commitment to Easter Seals by agreeing to enter as Regatta Teams, meaning the broker/ owners or managers and seven of their agents or guests will sail aboard each of the boats, along with two professional sailors to coach the teams and ensure safety on the powerful racing yachts.
