DYLAN DOG: DEAD OF NIGHT": No stars. Comic book adaptation about the adventures of a supernatural private eye. It's a cluttered, uninspired clunker that should have gone straight to DVD if anywhere at all. Rated PG-13.
"FAST FIVE": HH1/2 Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and their crew plan a heist while caught between a ruthless drug lord and relentless federal agent. Full of pretty cars, prettier women, absurd action that shatters all physical laws, it's nonsense, but a lot of fun nonetheless. Rated PG-13.

With slim-pickings of films to choose from this past weekend, I went with "Dylan Dog: Dead of Night.
After sitting through it, I wish I had I paid to go see "Scream 4" for the second time. This spoof/horror flick crashed and burned from scene one.

* Say what you will about Dennis Bailey and his politics. At least he's got good taste in music.
Bailey, a high-profile political consultant, fronts the Bob Dylan tribute band The Bob Band at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Dog Fish Bar & Grille, 128 Free St., Portland. Dylan turns 70 on Tuesday, and Saturday's show will celebrate the milestone.

Blood Feathers - lead by guitarists Ben Dickey and Drew Mills - are big on ear-pleasing harmonies and catchy singalongs. Their (and the) Philebrity Label debut, Goodness Gracious, has hooksaplenty and shimmering guitar chords as perfect as Mills' pomade-stiffened coiffure. This (Dr.) Dog will hunt. And there's a pinch of Dylan mixed in with your Scott McMicken to help it all go down. (You'll never confuse them with Blood Brothers.)
