CHICAGO, Nov. 2 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The lap pool at Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center, Downers Grove, was ranked first among 34 similar pools in the Fitness/Health Centers category by the DuPage County Health Department for the pool season ending September 2004. Inspections are made at least monthly, on varying days and times. Inspectors evaluate water quality, mechanical equipment, pool safety features, pool decks, lockers rooms and showers.

At a bake sale one time I had the pleasure of meeting a delightfully soft-spoken French nun from West Chicago selling baked goods. People seek out her baked goods at this event every year and they are out-of-this-world delicious. I saw two people from the DuPage County Health Department come through with clipboards and later talked with the nun about what questions they asked her. I get questions occasionally about people wanting to have a bake sale who want to know about guidelines to follow. Although restrictions differ from county to county and state to state, here are some helpful recommendations, many from the McLean County Health Department.
