Acting Governor Codey on Wednesday signed into law a package of bills that treats prescription drug traffickers like narcotics dealers.
The bills prohibit unlawful possession or distribution of prescription drugs, restrict the sale of certain over-the-counter cough medicines, and establish licensing requirements for pharmaceutical wholesalers.

AUGUSTA State lawmakers are expected to consider emergency legislation later this month that would increase penalties for trafficking of bath salts and add new penalties for possession of the synthetic designer drug that has gripped Maine.
The proposed bill, drafted by Gov. Paul LePage and his staff, likely will be debated and voted on during a special legislative session scheduled for Sept. 27.

BAILEYVILLE - The Town Council strongly endorsed a new law that allows for greater penalties for drug trafficking in safe zones.

A city ordinance proposing penalties for landlords who allow drug trafficking, illegal drug use and other unlawful activities on their rental properties will be introduced in the Evansville City Council today.

West Virginia lawmakers may require state agencies to build a new prison to ease the state's inmate crowding crisis, through one of two draft bills that emerged for discussion Tuesday at a legislative interim meeting.
