• Public Works: Family Day Is One Aspect of National Week of Celebration

The City of Santa Fe's Public Works Department maintains about 1,000 lane-miles of paved city streets, grades some 160 lane-miles of unpaved city streets, maintains about 1,400 storm drains, grates and drainage pipes and keeps up about 1,300 city-owned cars, trucks, backhoes, graders, sweepers and other vehicles and heavy equipment. And that's just the Streets, Drainage and Fleet Maintenance Division. In celebration of National Public Works Week today through May 22, the department is hosting a Family Day open house from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at its facility at 1142 Siler Road.
