LOUISVILLE, Ky. - An Australian investment banker accused of attaching a fake bomb to a teenager's neck as part of an extortion plot once worked for a company with ties to the victim's family, according to federal court documents released Tuesday. S. Magistrate Judge Dave Whalin on Tuesday ordered 50-year-old Paul "Doug" Peters jailed pending an extradition hearing set for Oct. 14 in Louisville.
A Missouri House committee on Tuesday will consider changing or eliminating the state's Nonpartisan Court Plan. The new Special Standing Committee on Judicial Reform will conduct hearings on two proposed constitutional amendments. One proposal, by Rep. Doug Funderburk, R-St. Peters, would replace the Court Plan with partisan elections at all levels.
