FISHKILL, N.Y., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Taconic Health Information Network and Community (THINC) has been awarded an $8.7 million grant to support better care coordination for mental health patients through the use of information technology. The grant is from the New York State Department of Health and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, offered through Phase 17 of the Health Care Efficiency and Affordability Law of New York (HEAL NY) and the Federal State Health Reform Partnership (F-SHRP), which support efforts that improve the efficiency and affordability of New York's health care system.

Brooklyn resident Michael Mineo claimed that he was sodomized when three NYPD officers assaulted him after he was caught smoking marijuana in a subway station. Patients suffering from vision diseases will be able to receive early diagnosis and treatment at Nassau University Medical Center thanks to its acquisition of a high-resolution camera through a $50,000 grant from the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.
Daniel A. Kane, acting president and CEO of Nassau Health Care Corp., said the technology will allow the hospital to provide early diagnosis and treatment of many eye problems, including diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration.
