Hundreds of thousands of dollars in political donations from New Jersey union workers are routinely sent out of state, bypassing local campaign finance rules and possibly routed back into third- party advocacy groups that can conceal their donors.
The New Jersey Education Association transferred $164,539 in the first six months this year to the National Education Association Fund for Children and Public Education, the political action committee for the national teachers union. The current process of organ donation in the U.S. relies on the premise of altruism or voluntary consent. Yet, human organs available for donation and transplant do not meet current demands. Before initiating a donor awareness campaign, this study sought to gauge college students' perceptions of the subject. A four-page closed-ended survey was completed by 389 students to measure their knowledge about organ donations in general, their attitudes toward giving and receiving donations and their intended behaviors. Results indicated that students have mixed feelings toward organ donation and their knowledge about the process is minimal. In gen...

The Redlands Historical Museum recently received six watercolor and oil artworks by the late Redlands artist Jean Larson Cranmer. The paintings were a donation from Kimberly Crest House and Gardens Gift Shop Committee from some 200 paintings that came to that historic mansion from the Cranmer estate several years ago.
John Waldum, the chairman of the Kimberly Crest Gift Shop Committee, said that Kimberly Crest also intends to give several other paintings to three or four Redlands organizations that could display Cranmer's work. Then a major sale of the artwork is planned as a fundraiser for Kimberly Crest.
