VIRGINIA BEACH - Capt. passed away peacefully in Virginia Beach on Jan. 4, 2009. He was born in Huntington, W.Va., on Oct. 13, 1919. He graduated from Marshall University in 1943 and was commissioned as a U.S. Naval officer, serving with valor in the South Pacific during World War II and again during the Korean conflict. Don was a lifelong achiever, attaining the rank of captain in the Navy as a reservist and retired from a distinguished career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as the Chief of Planning for the Ohio River Division in Cincinnati. During his retirement years in Virginia Beach, he was deeply involved in the efforts to restore the beachfront in the 1980s as a consultant to the city.
Donald Lee Walton-Williams, born 10-25-75, got called home to help God on 6-11-09. Donald was a fantastic artist, cross country runner, and boxed for Ringside Boxing Club. He loved darts, pool and karaoke. He had a big heart and would give the shirt off his back. He was easy going and had a great sense of humor. He loved kids and they loved him. He had a big love for family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He worked for All Service Inc. at the time of his death. Donald is survived by his daughter Lainie, his dad and mom Roy and Kim Williams, two brothers, Aaron Walton and Stephan Janshen, Travis and Chelsea Williams, sister Christina and Buddy Blackburn, fiance Judy Anglin, their kids and grandkids and many aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces.
