Dear Dog Talk: I have a money-making idea for a smart entrepreneur. For many pet guardians, exercise for animals becomes a problem in winter, when conditions on the streets are a sloppy mess. I particularly do not like to take my two collies out in inclement weather, given that their expensive grooming jobs will be rendered almost worthless. I wonder whether anyone has thought of opening establishments where pets may go to walk and run in a controlled indoor environment, or, at least, in a covered, dry outdoor space. I bet someone could turn a tidy profit if such centers were to spring up.

Dear Sun Spots: We would like to find a dog day-care facility in the Auburn/Lewiston area so our dogs can play and socialize with other dogs. I know there are some around, but I can't seem to find any in the phone book or any advertisements online or in the paper for them. I did a Google search and found two in Gray, but would prefer to find something closer. Do you know of any? Thanks a lot. - No Name, Auburn.

Camp Bow Wow, a Denver-based day camp and sleepaway camp for dogs, has gained a pawhold in North Jersey. The area's first Camp Bow Wow franchise, at 95 Greenwood Ave. in Midland Park, held its grand opening this month after having its quiet, or soft, opening in January.
