I don't get involved in court cases unless a dog's life is on the line, and I know that I can rehabilitate the dog," she said.

I am opposed to enacting breed-specific legislation. I do not own a pit bull or bull breed, never have and am not likely to own one. This decision was not made because I dislike the bull breeds, but because I choose to share my life with standard poodles. The odds that poodles will be banned are slim to none. I have no personal axe to grind. So, why does this issue raise my hackles? As a dog lover and someone who has worked with dogs for over 25 years, I feel that I must speak out. Enacting breed-specific legislation will not solve the problem of vicious dogs. It will, however, punish good dogs and their owners for the actions of a few. Call me crazy, but this sounds like the doggy version of racial profiling.I have worked for veterinarians for 17 years and have trained and shown dogs f...

Weil, I'd keep him off the steroids, if that's what you're asking. Also, common experience suggests that where big vs. small is concerned, you don't necessarily want to bet the rent on Goliath. Granted, David wasn't using karate, and there's no question the introduction of firearms into the situation tends to skew the odds. Nonetheless you do occasionally hear of martial arts adepts taking down attackers with their bare hands - including attackers with guns. For example:
Okay, the last fellow lost his fight, and yes, he's not much of an argument for the usefulness of martial arts training in staying out of troubla However, the more interesting observation is that, of the cases I dug up, 60% of those who used martial arts to smack down an attacker (even if only temporarily) were blind or...

If you've ever thought about trying your hand at illegal street art, I've got some advice for you: Pre-shake your spray cans. Because when you're out in the deep hours of the night and apprehension is sitting like a rock in your throat and a chill is at the tip of your nose and you can hear your own breath in counterpoint to the bass thud of your heartbeat, vigorously shaking a can of spray paint for two minutes can make you feel like a real idiot. The metallic rattle of the can pretty much destroys any illusion of stealth that you may have had. And when you stop short of shaking the can long enough, because half the neighborhood is awake and you're feeling some pressure to either start painting or bail, it turns out the paint doesn't apply well. Looking at the drippy mess you've made, ...
