WASHINGTON, Nov. 15 /U.S. Newswire/ -- A group of Foreign Service employees of the U.S. Department of State has filed a formal complaint with the Government Accountability Office (GAO) alleging criminal actions by the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) and Office of Medical Services (M/MED) to avoid compliance with the Privacy Act, the FOIA, and the HIPAA act.
The complaint accuses DSS and M/MED of illegally maintaining record documents in non-record committee or working files and improperly transferring documents and files between offices in a deliberate effort to avoid compliance with laws and regulations which would require the State Department to make these records available to employees wishing to contest their use in personnel decisions or security clearance dete...

A Clark County man is awaiting extradition from Peru, where he was arrested on suspicion of child rape and other related charges, according to a news bulletin issued by the State Departments Diplomatic Security Service.
George Alvin Viste was arrested in Lima, Peru, on July 30. Hes being held in the Callao Prison in Lima on suspicion of rape of a child, child molestation and incest.

Dozens of Foreign Service officers say their careers are in ruins because their security clearances were suspended based on suspicions or unsubstantiated accusations.
Several have accused the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) in interviews of "abusing the security clearance process" by punishing "whistleblowing, dissenting viewpoints or minor acts of possible misfeasance unrelated to national security.
