The last time I bought maternity clothes at what is now 35 Plaza, it was at the Dan Howard Maternity Outlet in 1989. So when Destination Maternity opened its doors on roughly the same spot in March, I took along someone with more recent maternity shopping experience: my niece Liora, who's expecting her first baby in July.

Destination Maternity, a new retail division of Mothers Work Inc., will open its first store in Wisconsin at the Fountain Square shopping center in Brookfield on Jan. 6. The 4,240-square-foot superstore will offer everything from maternity clothes to belly dancing classes for pregnant women and will consolidate two existing retail formats now operated by Mothers Work in the area.
