WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Last year, Kerri Campbell made a decision: She would no longer sit at her desk eight hours a day. Today, the retail broker for Daymon Worldwide in Pleasanton, Calif., stands on a couple of black pads, each about an inch thick. Her keyboard is on a wooden stand built by her husband, and her monitor rests at eye level on a box, a hard-drive dock and a ream of paper.
It's nothing fancy, she says, but this do-it-yourself workstation has changed the way she feels at the end of the day. She has more energy, she says, and feels more fit.

Companies that provide products and services worldwide often are concerned that customer satisfaction may be impacted by cultural differences. This study examines measures of customer satisfaction in areas around the world to determine whether or not there is a difference in satisfaction scores provided by Help Desks. A sample of more than 11579 surveys from three large international companies in the computer and medical electronics areas was used. The statistical results at a 5% confidence level indicate there is a difference in customer perception in Help Desk support between that provided to US customers than that provided to Thailand customers. Los Angeles County sheriff's officials want detectives who investigate gang-related crimes to spend more time on the streets and less time behind their desks.
To that end, Sheriff Lee Baca has moved the department's gang unit, known as Operation Safe Streets, out of the department's detective division and into the Region II bureau, which has seen the largest number of gang-related killings in the past six years. The region covers such stations as Century, Compton and Lennox.
