Ambassador William Lester Eagleton Jr, born in Peoria, Illinois August 17, 1926, passed away peacefully at his home in Taos, New Mexico on January 27, 2011. He graduated from Peoria High School in 1943, served in the Navy at the end of WW2, graduated from Yale University, Institut des Sciences Politiques Paris, and the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University. William Eagleton embarked on a remarkable 42 year career in the US Foreign Service, which began in Madrid and subsequently took him to Syria, Lebanon, Northern Iraq, Iran, Mauritania, London, Yemen, Algeria, Libya, Iraq, and Syria again where he served as Ambassador. Seven Buffalo-area hockey players were taken in the recent USHL (United States Hockey League) Future Draft. This draft is the top development league in USA Hockey and is on par with the OHL, WHL and Quebec Jr. leagues.
Five played for the Buffalo Regals 16-under midget team while the other two played for Nichols. Patrick Polino was draft with the No. 4 overall pick by the Chicago Steel. Dylan McLaughlin was taken with the No. 9 pick in the first round by Sioux Falls. Justin Bailey went to the Indiana Ice with the 11th pick. Other draftees were: Kyle Eastman (third round/Tri City Storm), Nichols' Sean Malone (fouth round/Lincoln Stars), Nichols' Wilson Vershay (fifth round/Waterloo Blackhawks and Joe Palumbo (Des Moines Buccaneers).
