C. Mayor Vincent C. Gray has tapped two Capitol Hill veterans to help him trumpet his "ambitious agenda" to the public after a string of personnel blunders threatened to obscure any progress during his first year at the helm of the city. Mr. Gray appointed Sheila Bunn, a staff member for D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton since 1995, to be his deputy chief of staff.
[Louanner Peters], a noted political strategist and public policy expert, was appointed deputy governor of Illinois in December 2006 after serving as the former governor's deputy chief of staff for nearly three years prior. She was the first Black woman to hold the deputy governor position. Most recently, Peters served as chief executive officer for JLP Consulting, LLC, a full-service strategic planning, business development and public affairs firm. She also worked for the NAACP's Voter Empowerment Project in Baltimore and for former U.S. Rep. Gus Savage. D-2nd. Peters, a noted political strategist and public policy expert, was appointed deputy governor of Illinois in December 2006 after serving as the former governor's deputy chief of staff for nearly three years prior.

Karl Rove, the senior political strategist who orchestrated President Bush's re-election campaign, has been promoted to deputy chief of staff, a job that will involve him in most White House policy and not just politics. Rove will coordinate White House policy developed within the Domestic Policy Council, the National Economic Council, the National Security Council and the Homeland Security Council, although intelligence and other national security issues from those councils will be handled by d eputy c hief of s taff Joe Hagin.
