CHEYENNE -- Lawmakers voiced concerns Monday about inconsistencies among some of Gov. Dave Freudenthal's budget recommendations on the conversion of state contract employees to full-time status. During its third week of hearings, members of the Joint Appropriations Interim Committee questioned why Freudenthal recommended approval of an exception request by the Wyoming Department of Employment to allow 17 at-will-employee contracts to become entry-level, full-time positions in its Workers' Safety and Compensation Division. The move will cost $1.4 million.
