First, a new partnership agreement is in place with the National Institute of Corrections (NIC), Division of Offender Workforce Development, to identify and disseminate information related to some Department of Education funded Life Skills for State and Local Inmates Program projects. Finally, evaluation specialists at Virginia Tech have agreed to help the Department assist State correctional education programs In understanding how to access and utilize post release offender data to evaluate institutionally based education programs.

Building on this work, our two current data related technical assistance projects focus in turn on: 1 Using program performance data as a school improvement tool with correctional education school performance reports or "school report cards," and 2 Obtaining and utilizing post release outcome data to evaluate and improve correctional education programs.
