HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Department of Community and Economic Development received a $1.7 million State Trade and Export Promotion grant from the federal Small Business Administration (SBA) to increase export assistance to Pennsylvania's small businesses. Providing small businesses with the tools they need to grow and create jobs in the state is a top priority of the governor and our agency," DCED Secretary C. Alan Walker said. "Export assistance is a great resource for small businesses interested in selling their goods and services to new markets.

Clark County has landed a $3.3 million grant to reduce homelessness by cleaning up homeless camps and provide services for those living in squalor. The money, to be doled out in reimbursements over three years, is the biggest grant awarded during the two-year history of the Homeless Grant Assistance Program, administered by the Washington Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development.
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Two Yakima Valley agencies will receive federal stimulus funds to help residents weatherize their homes against the elements. Agencies in Kittitas and Klickitat counties will also receive funds. A state department took control of Washington's Lead-Based Paint Training and Certification Program after Gov. Gary Locke completed an agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency earlier this month. The program, which had been administered by the EPA's Region 10 office in Seattle, will now be managed by the state Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development. The transfer, which was OK'd by the state legislature in 2003, became effective June 10. Contractors with EPA certifications to work with lead-based paint have 120 days to re-certify with CTED.
