Identifying satisfiers and dissatisfiers (i.e., satisfying and dissatisfying product attributes) has long been a major research focus among scholars in various disciplines, including management, marketing and engineering. It is observed that CIT (critical incident technique) is frequently used in such research but it has some limitations. So the objective of this study is to suggest a companion research method, termed as ICT (intensity comparison technique), to complement the use of CIT in identifying satisfiers and dissatisfiers. In the demonstration and empirical validation of ICT, we find that this method is convenient to use and yields results that complement those of CIT. It is expected that this study can trigger future research through which the ICT can be further developed.

Comparable" valuation methods are a set of methods that use comparable situations to infer the value of a firm. The comparable company method of valuation is one such technique. Comparable valuation methods estimate a firm's value by multiplying a ratio estimated from comparable firms (valuation multiple) times the firm's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA), earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), revenue, or some other performance measure. This article explains how to adjust the comparable company method for the value of corporate control. A demonstration is presented of the efficiency of the adjusted comparable company method to value a sample of 51 firms involved in highly leveraged transactions. The value of corporate control is embodied in t...

In 1925 the Carnegie Corporation granted $50,000 to Louisiana, a state then "backward in library development," to fund a demonstration of rural public library development. Essae M. Culver, a California librarian, was chosen to direct the project. Culver arrived in Louisiana to find that the entire state needed organizing. She concluded that the parish (county) was the appropriate unit upon which to base a system of libraries and adapted California's demonstration system to the southern state's needs. Key to Culver's method was local funding after the demonstration period, and she convinced legislators to finance the state library agency. Similarly, voters concurred that their parish libraries were worth keeping, and, despite some early failures during times of flood and economic depress...

This paper examines the determinants of performance on the business major field achievement ETS exam with a focus on the impact of students taking multiple business courses in the online environment. The sample consists of 136 students at a midsized regional institution located in the Southwestern region of the United States. The empirical model employed controls for grade point average, standardized test scores (SAT/ACT), junior college transfer students, gender, and student motivation. The results indicate that students completing multiple business courses in the online environment scored six percentile points lower on the ETS exam but the coefficient is not statistically significant.
