Highlights of the seniors' program under Sarah's direction, included, the introduction of bowling, fishing and dancing. Sustain Taos came about in 2002 after a First Friday Forum on "Energy, the Environment and You." John Otis, executive director of Taos Business Alliance, called a group of like-minded people together and formed what was then called the Taos Sustainable Systems Council. The goal of this group was to create community educational events to promote sustainability, water conservation, renewable energy and environmental consciousness. HILLSDALE DISTRICT -- Dec. 2, FFA members competed at the sub- district parliamentary procedure contest. The event tested students' ability to communicate ideas during a meeting. Components included a general knowledge of parliamentary law, a 16-minute demonstration, oral questions and writing minutes. The senior team placed first overall, earning the right to compete at the district level on Dec. 9 at Crestview High School. As a retired journalist, I spent many years observing the amount of noise and mayhem a small crowd of people could generate. The squeakiest wheel on the cart always gets the most attention, and they got more than their share of attention from the media, of which I was one. Disagreement with ideas is to be expected and is a demonstration of democracy in action. But one hopes and expects the disagreement will be reasonably polite and civil. This study compares and contrasts the individual dimensions of work ethic of graduating college and university students to those of workforce professionals. The Multidimensional Work Ethic Profile (MWEP) is used to operationalize seven dimensions of work ethic. The findings indicate that while students and workforce professionals differ within the individual dimensions, quantitatively, they have the same overall work ethic. Variances within the dimensions of work ethic may have important implications for corporate managers.
