Since its founding in Roxbury, Massachusetts, in July 2004, PDA has aggressively worked an "inside/outside" strategy, networking progressive Democratic elected officials inside the Beltway with grassroots Democrats and progressive movement activists across the country. PDA was the driving force in the passage of resolutions opposing the war in Iraq by eight state Democratic Party meetings. The organization also was instrumental in the passage of resolutions in 10 states calling for the impeachment of President Bush. Roberta "Rickie" Santell, a Democratic Party dynamo whose volunteerism knew no bounds, has died.
Santell died of cancer at her home in Mission Viejo on Jan.26. She was 73.

Despite a plea from his biggest endorser for a delay, Rodney Glassman said he would move ahead with his campaign for Democratic Party chairman, and accused Andrei Cherny and incumbent Chairman Don Bivens of making "backroom deals" to keep him from winning the race.
The election of a chairman is scheduled to take place Saturday at the state committee meeting at the Wyndham Phoenix.

Senate Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid's characterization of then-candidate Barack Obama's chances to win the presidency because he is a "light-skinned" African-American "with no Negro dialect"-well, was right. All Reid left out waste fact that Obama was "male," because let's face it, that helped too-that and the fact that he spoke English better than any other Black man who has ever run for President and didn't sport a perm or an Afro. What was wong was that that Reid shouldn't have ever said what he said publicly considering he is white and these types of statements can't help but come off a bit racist But I guess that's what's to be expected when Tyler Perry films get national distribution. Faced with the task of bringing his party back from the worst defeat in its history, newly elected Arizona Democratic Party Chairman Andrei Cherny is looking toward the center.
After voters gave the GOP every statewide office and super majorities in both chambers of the Legislature, Cherny is looking to co-opt some of its ideas. And without any statewide elected officials to carry the banner for the party, Cherny plans to take a more visible role than most Democratic chairmen in promoting the party's agenda.
