CENTERVILLE -- There will be a family-friendly open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 13, to celebrate the city's new Public Works facility at 7970 S. Suburban Road.
The event will include facility tours, equipment demonstrations, hot dogs and lemonade, and information about Public Works Department services. "A lot of people understand what police and fire (departments) do," said Mary Lou Pence, public works operations manager. "But not a lot of people know what public works folks do." There also will be a dedication ceremony at 3 p.m. Pence said guests can park in neighboring lots on South Suburban Road during the event.
