LAREDO, Texas - The trial of a man accused of executing a teen who broke into his home with friends looking for snacks has many in this border city outraged. Not because of the crime, but because the man is facing a murder charge.

ATLANTA - It's been almost a year since a new law broadened protection for Georgians who use deadly force to protect themselves and their property against attackers.
Often referred to as the "stand your ground" law, the measure has since cropped up in court cases for people arguing they were justified for killing in self defense and provided additional cover for those involved in a rash of home invasion shootings in Augusta.

A man is charged with reckless homicide after an accused burglar died earlier this week as a result of injuries received when the victims of the intended crime caught and fought with the suspect, holding him captive until police officers arrived.
Police say 33-year-old Antonio Steele was found by two brothers prowling around the garage area of the one-story East Memphis home in the 3500 block of Vanuys at about 11:30 p.m. on March 25. The two confronted him, which led to a brief foot chase before the older brother, Vastron Palmer, locked the intruder into a choke hold, police reported.
